Do I need to meditate to do this type of therapy?
No. I use mindfulness in session, which is just a way of putting your attention on your present experience. It is not meditation.
What do you mean by somatic therapy? Are you giving therapy clients massages?

Somatic therapy means related to the body. EMDR could be considered a somatic modality, and Hakomi, which I am trained in. Somatic psychotherapy relates to the body and is biased toward present-moment experience, basically mindfulness.

I also do bodywork modalities such as craniosacral therapy, polarity therapy, acupressure, and psychotherapy on the table. These are all clothes-on modalities. It is not massage.

What if I just want a Swedish massage?
A Swedish massage is done when the client is unclothed but draped with a sheet. I only do massage with clients that are not psychotherapy clients.
Are you licensed?
Yes, I am dual licensed in Counseling and Massage in Texas.

Email and text. It is best to email to set up an appointment to talk on the phone.
I've never been in therapy. Is it ok if I cry?
Yes! Please cry! Clients cry with me all the time. Therapy is a great place for exploring your emotions; it is safe and judgment-free.
Do I have to be in touch with my emotions?
No. In fact, many people come to therapy because they are unaware of their emotions. With psychotherapy, we engage with the mind (thoughts) and the body (emotions). We explore and bring both to our awareness to integrate more wholeness.
What do you enjoy about being a therapist?
I love working with people. I enjoy transformation and self-discovery, and I love being a part of that growth with my clients.
